Stop with the low star rating because you're mad at Amazon's policy change
I've watched this series for 4 seasons. The acting is consistantly great! Glenn Close and Rose Byrne are both excellent actors and they deserve higher star ratings than the the show is getting in season 4. Some people are givingpoor ratings with 1-2 stars because of a change in Amazon's policy to not offer it free starting in season 4 with the amazon prime video membership. These poor reviews are bringing the actual show ratings down. Amazon's policy change has nothing to do with the quality of the actual show. I wish people would rate the acting and writing quality of the show correctly and not lower it because they're pissed off at Amazon.

Another Great Season
Bruce Altman tells Glenn Close to F*** ***. What could be better? Another great season of Damages. And John Goodman as the villain.

Deceptive marketing, but Amazon corrected their error
July 21 update: Amazon issued a credit to cover the cost of my unwatched episodes that are now pay-per-view, instead of part of Prime's free instant video. Thanks for making it right, Amazon.

July 17 original comment: "Damages" is one of those addictive shows that hooks you and compels you to want to immediately see the next installment. It was deceptive marketing to offer season 4 for free one day as part of Prime instant streaming and then, after hooking viewers, switching the pricing the next day to charge for the remaining episodes. This is unethical marketing and Season 4 should be restored to free Prime instant streaming.

Pilot

Great show
The Shield may be lamentably gone from TV, but prominent alumnus Kurt Sutter seems to have taken it upon himself to carry on its legacy with Sons of Anarchy, and if the show's first season is any indication he's more than up to the task. Anyone who enjoyed The Shield's combination of intelligence and testosterone will certainly find a lot to like here, as SoA quickly established itself as among TV's most unique and consistently compelling shows and only got better from there. Striking a near-perfect balance between grit and sensationalism, it takes viewers through a world marked by violence, double-dealing, and racial division, with an emphasis on the ambiguous morality and personal and familial baggage that come with a life lived between the straight world and the criminal one. The machinations of the characters and the twists of the plot are almost operatic, but the show remains rooted in the harsh realities of gangland.

A Fable for People Who've Never Known Real 1 Percenters
The timing of Sons is obviously gauged to take advantage of the latest mid-life crisis which requires men my age to buy Harleys and spend their weekends pretending to be outlaw bikers.

Sons of Anarchy shows real potential as a worthy successor to The Sopranos - The Complete Series episodic brand of voyeurism. Sons offers to take us into the lives of those who live outside the social contracts (or constraints) most of us take for granted. However, unlike The Sopranos, the Sons are not a criminal version of royalty (a status bestowed by endless viewings of The Godfather DVD Collection .) Instead they are, (as described by another reviewer) "relatable." These are, for the most part, average joes, who've chosen to live outside the requirement to be a part of the herd or to "go along to get along."

Awesome show, great Blu
Had not watched this show during the first season run, but I had customers asking about it for months now, so in seeing the Blu option I took a chance. The demand has been huge and the feedback has been excellent. A well produced show, a great cast, a gritty yet flowing soundtrack (Primal Scream, Lions, Bob Thiele, Curtis Stigers) all put together onto a solid Blu package.

The picture quality through all 13 episodes maintained decently, with only a few failures here and there depending on the night footage. The DTS is mixed just well enough to hear such gems as a cigarette burning while the Harley floods the outer channels, or a dog barking out a rear channel that makes you jump, or one of the few bass scenes (thumping music) when they enter the Niners Club in Oakland. The music was actually done just right in each episode as to not drown out any peripheral chatter or relevant goings-on. The supplements are placed entirely on disc 3 and include:

Thank goodness England's Whitechapel district is infamous for its many heinous crimes. Else how could a show initially tailored around Jack the Ripper go on, let alone thrive? There's gratifying news of a Series 3 being worked on and scheduled for a 2012 airing, so sighs of relief, sighs of relief. Meantime, WHITECHAPEL Series 2 revives one of the most notorious eras in East End lore: the reign of the murderous Kray twins, them nattily-attired crime lords what often resorted to torture and murder. And here you thought Britain in the 1960s was only known for the Beatles.

The brilliant cast of actors reprises them roles. Series 2 opens with the East End's homicide unit attending a policeman banquet and still soaking in the humiliation of having allowed the Jack the Ripper copy cat to scarper. Great series
Some of the earlier reviews gave the series only a few stars based on the availability at the time of all the episodes. Not fair in my opinion. All episodes are now available--at least I was able to see them all. I love this series. I like the quirky characters and find the true crime history fascinating. I think it is extremely well written and well acted. There is just enough tension between the characters as they learn to work with each other. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good British mystery.

She's gritty and the woman who can handle it
In, "PRIME SUSPECT" Helen Mirren makes the show as Tennison. Obsessed, work-driven, feminist attitude, course, in-your-face drive, believable. Most is man-like rather than the occasional romantic portion which does exist. She's a drinker, and almost never smiles. The cases may not always end to your satisfaction--just like real life crimes and punishment. But you will be on the edge of your seat while you watch. "Prime Suspect" is compelling viewing, ruthless in the detail, definitely not for children and the squeamish, blatantly course visually and in dialogue, but oh, so realistic.

The mother of invention
Having recently discovered the excellence of such American TV series as The Wire, or Sopranos, I was keen to have a look at one of the first such series, the English one called Prime Suspect, with the fabulous Helen Mirren. Finally I managed to watch series 1 of 1991, not without misgivings: can it have aged well, would it not be dated and antique?
No, it is still as fresh as if it had been done recently. Some things have changed of course. The star looks like 40, not like the queen. And her female cop Jane Tennison struggles against male ignorance among her colleagues on an unimaginable level. No current show would dare to depict men as such stupid idiots.
The 200 minutes of the first series are not broken up in hourly or 45 minutes dosages, but come in just two installments. The plot focuses on just one case. It is a whodunnit, but it is also a procedural and a character study and a social study. Tennison is ambitious, selfish, vain, smart, and we see how she has to be...

The First and the Best
Helen Mirren is in my mind the best actress of our time.. I cannot think of a film where she did not shine! She is able to take on the personna of the character she is playing, she is believable, honest, intelligent, and quite lovely.

I recently reviewed the first couple of episodes, and in the first series, the difficult time that DCI Jane Tennison had breakng into the old boy's network, comes full force. The smirks, the lies, the deceit from the men who were so afraid of a woman taking over. When she had her first win, and the men in her department greeted her with cheers and champagne, I ffelt tears in my eyes. I was a woman in the 60's and felt the discrimination and had the bottom pitching. I knew exactly what she went through. Tom Ball who plays DC Otley, the most despicable liar of the entire team has his comeuppance and none too soon. Excellent
It's awesome to see what these amazing soldiers go through with their intense training. Highly recommended to everyone. Go USA.

You can sleep well at night knowing these men will be on our side!
It was very graphic, depicting the difficulty that these men must go through to become the best of the best. Very few soldiers can complete this course and this documentary shows why. As a nation, we need these guys to be the toughest on the planet, physically and mentally.

6 stars for set 6, the post-war after Foyle's War 1-5, all a must view

And what a blessing to again see 'Sam', Miss Stewart (Honeysuckle Weeks) back helping Foyle in Hastings, solving crimes and dealing with post-war issues. She has such a beautiful face--and more. A jolly voice. I just love her.

Most Excellent
This whole set of series is historical while entertainment of the highest degree. I watch it over and over again from the first season to the last and can hardly wait for seasons 7 & 8 to be available. Even with cable these are the stories I want to spend my winter evenings with. They remind me of the sacrifices made by the men in my family and yours while making new friends with Michael, Anthony and Honeysuckle (Who I know would be my lifetime friends should ever we meet). Its great fun to see and recognize many actors from other favorite stories and series. Thank you for "Foyle's War".

Excellent in nearly every respect, Michael Kitchen is superlative as usual. Few detective dramas manage to so thoughtfully interweave a more profound theme of loss, human cruelty and compassion.

Battlestar Galactica:The Mini-Series [HD]

Don't Buy Mini-Series if also Buying Season 1 DVD
DON'T BUY the mini series DVD if you are also planning on buying the season 1 DVD set. I made that mistake and wasted $$$. The mini series is the first DVD in the Season 1 set.

Great pilot, better series, bad DVD
The 2003 3-hour (minus commercials, that is) pilot/miniseries update of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA was a very well-done, very good pilot. I say that because pilots generally aren't as good as the series they lead up to, they merely lay the groundwork you need for the show, and GALACTICA is no exception. While it is very good on its own, it lags at times, loses its focus every once in a while, and it is obvious that it is a pilot for a TV series.

Thankfully, we got that TV series.

It is nothing short of amazing. Far surpassing the already-great pilot, it is the best show on TV at the moment.

This miniseries DVD, however, is crap.

I say that not because the picture or audio quality is bad (they aren't), or the extras are lacking (they are), but because in the upcoming Season 1 set, they include this exact disc, plus all the extras on this one on a separate disc in that set. This entire $22 set is pointless to buy if you buy Season 1...

Ever try something new and everything works out just fine?
I fear change. I shy away from bleeding edge technology. I stay safe. There was no way I was going to install some commercial program that stays resident and runs in the background on my computer. (After all, it was probably written by cylons.)

But then 'they' got me. What a dirty trick: BSG3 would be released in England next month, but not in the US for the indefinite future. If I wanted to watch BSG (which is the greatest program on television, bar none), I would have to risk installing 'Unbox.' As an avowed conspiracy theorist, you know what I thought about that.

Grudgingly, I downloaded the Unbox Player and installed it. I had to turn the computer on and off a few more times than expected; but that's par for the course on most installations. Then I decided to splurge. I spent $1.99 to check out an episode. Seemed a safe risk for the money, and the software installation had gone so quickly I was left with time on my hands to monkey around with this...

The kids I know think this is the best thing since the creation of TV. Very interesting even to adults - exploration and discovery based learning with humor and one liners only the parents will get. Learn about being a senator, a lawyer, an entomologist, a wizard, etc. (Those are all in season three).

But $32 for the whole season??? That is steep.

Different Worlds

Excellent!
Absolutely first rate! I have been waiting for someone to take all the latest theories and images from space and put them together with the latest computer graphics and interviews with scientists and that is exactly what has been done here. Have you wondered what the formation of planets in the solar system looked like? It is shown here in all the spectacle of a Hollywood Sci-Fi movie. Same for other astronomical events (worlds colliding, stars exploding). The computerized movies of Jupiter's storms are stunning! I would watch a documentary on ANY subject that was put together this successfully.

I fear some people may confuse this title with another space video narrated by Patrick Stewart called "The Planets." That is little more than a music video for Holst's work and is disappointing to anyone hoping for a space documentary.

I was greatly saddened to learn of Carl Sagan's passing in late '96. I had always wished that he would do another series like...

Amazing television but get the region 2 version
I just want to point out to possible purchasers of this DVD some of the differences between the region 1 and 2 versions - it seems most people already know what a great tv series it was anyway.

Having seen an episode or two of the series when it was on tv in the UK I bought this DVD - however I was disappointed by several aspects and sent it back, replacing it with the UK version. The episodes seem to be different from the UK version - much of the segments describing early space exploration involving russian scientists is cut. This leads to an imbalance (in my opinion!) as it seems from the region 1 DVD that the US did all the exploring - are subtitles un-American? The narration is also much less patronising on the UK edition. The region 2 set is dual layer, so 2 discs and not 4 and hence much cheaper too....

The series itself is still worth the 5 stars though, but do get the region 2 set from the UK Amazon.co.uk

Finest planetary voyage
Welcome to the best documentary series ever. Yes, BETTER than Dinosaurs (which depended largely on sensational computer visuals)! Whether you have only a passing interest in astronomy or have read a hundred books about it, this series will steal your heart. Every single aspect is flawless. The musical grandeur of Gustav Holst's symphony and the warm, captivating voice of the British narrator make up the aurals. No artificial excitement, no badly chosen music, PERFECT. The visuals include stylish computer animations and footage that makes you wonder how deep they actually had to dig... The first footage of a human being outside the atmosphere (jumping out of a balloon), the first on-board rocket footage, the earth as a blue dot captured by an ageing Voyager looking back at its birthplace. The content isn't exactly dumbed down, either. Even for an amateur like me, there were plenty of new things to discover. It contains many interviews with astronauts, Russian and American space-project...

Mistaken Identity

Very classy show. Top notch entertainment!
Blue Bloods is a win, win show all around. The writing remains crisp and sharp even though this is season four. Nothing sloppy, stale or predictable. Of course the acting is top notch to round out a winning combination.

My Favorite TV Family!
Blue Bloods is one of my favorite shows....and my favorite tv family! The Regans feel like a normal family. They are close as can be, but have their differences between them at times, too. But one thing that stays true and constant is their loyalty towards one another!! The cases each episode are always realistic & interesting! By purchasing the tv pass, I never have to worry about missing an episode, and can watch it on my Kindle whenever I choose to.

Great show
Blue bloods is a great show. It is a show that has amazing family values despite the families issues in defending New York city from danger. A great police show but more importantly an amazing family story. The writers of this show have totally outdone themselves. I think every member of the cast in this program has made their best performance ever. I hope the writers don't ever run out of material because its a great program.

Mom of a Croc [HD]

Fun and Educational Nature Show
My 3 year old is obsessed with creatures and he loves watching Wild Kratts. He comes away with lots of exciting animal facts that he likes to talk about the rest of the day. We started letting him watch this show to get him interested in more than just dinosaurs and reptiles. The show covers many different types of animals and has definitely expanded my son's interests.

Cloud??
My children LOVE the wild kratts shows, and they are very informational with good values displayed. My only issue is why do I have to have internet if I paid for all the videos. I mean, if I buy a movie for home, I can play it whenever without internet...HMMM

Great for Kids!
This is truly a wonderful series for kids. And they learn a lot and always want to watch them again and again and again. Make more! Love the real and the cartoon aspects.

One Tree Hill: The Complete Eighth Season

Still excellent after all these years
I don't agree that the show has gone into a "just sex" mode - there was definitely a lot more when the main characters were in high school. I agree that Haley & Nathen are so fantastic together, but I like to see Nathen fully grown up & going to college. They will always be a totally solid couple. I DO miss the other characters & wish we could see more (or any) of them! Karen! But I guess when an actor wants to leave there is not much the show can do about it. I am glad that through all the heartbreak, Brooke finally found her joy & don't begrudge her her "time in the sun". I love to see stories with Jamie too - it sets the scene for the "next generation" - I would like to fast forward & see him playing a Raven's sport. That last scene with him dribbling the basketball over the bridge was so reminiscent of his uncle that I wanted to cry - it was perfect. I'd like to see him in high school dating Madison while his Mom run's Karen's. I do miss Lucas & Peyton, but I don't think...

Season 8, Could be Great!
Though we are still in season 8's episodes I would say it has the ability to be great.
While the story lacks in some areas, the overall arc of the series is making an effort to get across certain messages.
While it is uncertain what those messages are at this time, the ultimate goal I believe is to wrap up the series, and allow the characters to have their happy endings.
I personally love happy endings, and love happy characters in general, BUT this writing has made me question that. It seems to be cutting short issues it could be addressing.

It seems to make me want drama, and more excitement in the series again. It is lacking the qualities we love about the show. So while I love the series and this season, I am thinking it could be better. Time will tell whether that is right or not.

As of 8.11's episode of OTH, the series has captured many fans again with the establishment of more drama.

The Little Show That Could
Season GrEight of OTH is filled with bittersweet moments and feel good episodes for the most part and contains the single greatest midseason finale of the show's entire run.
Throughout the season it becomes very obvious that Mark Schwahn [the show's creator and mastermind] intended this to be a perfectly sweet and emotional goodbye, a season for the fans. Haley and Nathan have another baby while B. Davis finally gets her fairy tale wedding and her biggest wish of all fulfilled. And while many scenes are way corny (maybe more than ever), season 8 is still one of the best ones. Whether B. Davis and rest of the gang put their fight face on on Thanksgiving, the girls dress up as superheroes to tell off some stuck up bullies or experience a morning after "The Hangover" style, it never gets boring in good ol' Tree Hill.
Now, with another (shorter) 9th and final season (for real, this time...), Schwahn set out to make this one for himself, with wild story lines and the return...

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Complete Series

The Home Stretch Affair . . .
Fans had been waiting for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. to come to DVD for years, when Time Life finally released a megaset containing all four seasons (105 episodes) and extensive bonus materials, late in 2007. This boxed set is still currently being sold by Time Life for $249.95. Last week, Amazon was apparently selling this same `briefcase' set at a presale price of $139.95, which was a fabulous buy. This week however, the set is now listed as `unavailable' for preorder, and there is no sales price listed. This is not the first time Amazon has pulled this collection off the shelf. We will soon see what Amazon's price will be. Keep your fingers crossed, Best Buy's presale price for the set is $179.99.

Time Life also had exclusive rights to Get Smart, which is only now beginning to be released to the general public. Fortunately, it appears that the U.N.C.L.E. set will be made available much, much sooner. Rather than wait, I got my set through a private sale some months...

One of the funniest and most unique series ever on TV
Aboard the Jupiter Mining Corporation vessel Red Dwarf, Dave Lister, a lowly 3rd Technician, smuggles aboard a pregnant cat and when he is found out he is confined to suspended animation for refusing to surrender the animal to the captain. During his time in stasis his bunkmate Arnold Rimmer, a lowly 2nd Technician, is forced to perform the maintenence duties without Lister's help and inefficiently repairs the drive plate, causing it to blow and subjecing the entire crew to deadly radiation. 3 million years pass until the background radiation level has dissipated to a safe level. At this point Holly, the ship's computer, releases Lister from stasis and tells him of the accident and also ressurrects Rimmer as a hologram to be a companion for Lister. Honestly, I wish I could give this series more stars; Red Dwarf is the Smegin' Greatest Creation of Mankind.

I began watching this series in 1991, and I have always recommended Red Dwarf to everyone. I've been pimping Red Dwarf since the early '90s, but I never had a chance to finish watching the series. Now that I own the entire collection of episodes of Red Dwarf, and I have finished watching the series, I thoroughly recommend purchasing the Boxed set of DVDs.

These DVDs have many extra features, edited and extended scenes, numerous extra bits, hidden features, and humorous additions which provide countless hours of entertainment.

No matter how messed-up the world is, or how much the daily news can ruin your day, this Boxed set of Red Dwarf episodes and Bonus materials will brighten your life! If you do not find the series humorous, you might want to check your pulse.

I personally feel a deep connection to the sets of the scenes, as well;...

Definitely a "smegging" good time
I can't believe the entire collection finally came out on DVD. I can't say enough about it, and I can't get enough of this show.

This is by far the best comedy series I've ever seen, even above Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Rising Damp, and Butterflies. I watched this show every chance I got when they were being re-run on PBS. I missed so many at the time, then I got the set. My wife hates it when I pull these back out and start watching them again, sitting around giggling like an idiot at all the cleverly witty banter and situational comedy these characters get into. It's still as funny today as the first time I saw them. Even the late episodes are great.

Some of my favorite lines and scenes came in the later seasons. Like in Duct Soup, Season 7, Ep.4: Cat and Lister are crawling the ductwork of the ship, trying to repair a reactor leak (I believe), and Cat tells Lister he hears a sort of "swirly, watery, rushing kinda noise". Episode 1 [HD]

And so Henry's reign ends...
Ironically enough, I've had a tumultuous relationship with The Tudors ever since it first started. It was an odd, kind of on-again, off-again relationship that ranged from near-fanatic fandom to downright apathy. I was a fan of Tudor historical fiction novels before the show began, and was more than ecstatic when I heard that Showtime was bringing the infamous Henry VIII to the screen with his many wives.

Sadly, the series didn't always deliver for me. The biggest issue for me, especially in the first season, was the incredible number of historical inaccuracies. Even though this always bugged me throughout the entire series' run, I had to just put it aside and accept the fact that this show is a Hollywood-ized version of Henry VIII's reign. Perhaps the aspect that got me through were the lush sets, impeccable art direction and absolutely gorgeous period costumes and accessories (especially on all of Henry's queens) -even though the costumes were more like Tudor style mixed...

I agree with the reviewer who noted the historical innacuracies in the Tudors series. While some of these innacuracies can be condoned on grounds of poetic license, some appear to be egregiously gratuitous (i.e., having Henry's sister Margaret not only marry the King of Protugal--which never happned--but then have her murder him!) There appears to be no dramatic reason for that kind of historical innacuracy which is truly unforgiveable. On the other hand, I am more forgiving of the Series having Wolsey committ suicide rather than dying of natural causes inasmuch as there was some speculation at the time of his death that he did indeed commit suicide given that he was facing the curel justice of a vengeful Henry.(And certainly if Wolsey did committ suicide, Henry would have every reason to cover it up in a way that the historians could not access). Oh, Henry...
My biggest complaint about "The Tudors" is that it ended after only four seasons. The Tudor dynasty didn't end with Henry VIII. Showtime had an amazing opportunity to continue this show with the short-lived reigns of Edward and Mary, followed by the lengthy Golden Age commandeered by Queen Elizabeth I. The network chose not to go that route, which is a major bummer.

As for the fourth and final season of "The Tudors," it definitely had its moments. I've been a fan of the show since Season 1, realizing that the series is completely historically inaccurate and a blatant depiction of nothing but sex, violence, and more sex...however, I love it for what it is! By far the best parts of this season were the appearances of Henry's final wives, the flighty Catherine Howard (perfectly portrayed by Tamzin Merchant) and the strong-willed Catherine Parr (Joley Richardson). "North & South" was released in the UK in November 2004 and in the US in July 2005. The BEST BBC mini-series in a DECADE!!
When I stumbled across an upcoming DVD entitled "North & South" on Amazon UK's website earlier this year, I had no idea what was in store...I bought the DVD sight unseen, taking a chance that the BBC would do a good job as always: man, was I surprised! This BBC series is absolutely fantastic!! I have always been a huge fan of 1995's "Pride & Prejudice", as well as other BBC (and other companies') period movies: "North & South" has endeared itself to my heart, and is quickly becoming my favorite period film in at least a decade!

American Pickers...A TOP Pick
From the moment I saw a teaser for American Pickers in December, I couldn't wait to see the first show. As a former flea market and yard sale addict, I miss the days when you really could find some amazing pieces of American history or pop culture at such venues. But those days were gone decades ago. So the thought that I could enjoy that vicariously through this show was pretty intriguing.

And it did not disappoint. American Pickers is everything I hoped for and more. Mike and Frank really know their stuff, and the people they come across in their travels are a breed of American which is quickly disappearing...along with the treasures they have hidden in barns, garages, old opera houses, and even tunnels!

One of the charming attributes of this series is the way Mike and Frank relate to each other. There are none of the insane ego dramas which plague-no, make that completely destroy-other reality shows. And over the time that these two have worked and traveled...

LOVE THIS SHOW!
Great info and teh guys crack me up! Great and very safe show to watch with children and right for any one who remebers!

A Tasty Slice of Picking LIfe
For 10 minutes, I wasn't sure I could live with these guys for several episodes, but then I warmed up, and then I was hooked. Mike grew on me. I liked that the guys didn't seem to be too concerned with everything being politically correct or too nicey nicey. The best part is getting inside those houses, barns, sheds, and warehouses! What a treat, meeting all manner of old coots and proud junk owners and collectors/hoarders. Also the stuff is quintessentially American.
Nice series, I'll watch more.

Good Luck, Father Ted

This is what Monty Python's comedy hath wrought...
"Father Ted" is brilliantly written, wonderfully acted, and definitely one of the funniest sitcoms of all time. Father Ted, Father Dougal and Father Jack are assigned to a distant parish on an island off the coast of Ireland. The trio get into one adventure after another, with lots of irony and hilarity with each episode. Probably the saddest and most unfortunate irony of the series is that "Father Ted" lead actor Dermot Morgan died one day after filming the final episode of the series in 1998. If you have had the opportunity to catch the series on BBC America, then you already know what everyone else should know -- buy this video!

Father Ted is probably one of the greatest sitcoms ever made. It was created by an Irish man Dermot Morgan, who plays Father Ted Crilly a priest who was banished from mainland Ireland for corruption. He lives with a dumb and innocent young priest called Dougal Maguire and a drunken old priest called Father Jack. Ted is probably the only one on the island with an IQ over 70. Ted's fellow priests and almost everyone on the island has a major but hilarious flaw, for example the house keeper Mrs. Doyle is scarily religious (much more so than any of the priests) and has an obssesive need to please . This show is a must see wonder for anyone who has any doubts about the Catholic church .

TEEDD!!!
First of all, this is NOT Britush comedy, like some other reviewers have written, this is Irish, it was only shown by channel 4 (an English channel) because Irish channels would not show it because of the references to the catholic church.

Father Ted was the basis for my generations sense of humour, it is that kind of show you can watch repeatedly without growing bored of it. It is (was, god rest his soul) always hilarious, and never grew old. The only problem is that some people find it offensive. True, it does have some grey areas, for example one episode is called "Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse!" and is all about, well, you can guess.

I think the best way to get into Father Ted is to watch from the beginning, but it is also very easy to understand by watching one of the later episodes first. Either way you are sure to love Father Ted.

The Sopranos: The Complete Second Season

It's a Family Thing....
The Sopranos is one of HBO's greatest achievements (although I admit that I think it lost some of its momentum and spark with seasons three and four). When I first saw the show, I was hooked. I'd watch anywhere from three to four episodes a day. One of the great things about first watching this show on DVD was that I could watch any number of episodes instead of just watching one per week.

"The Sopranos: The Complete Second Season" has to be my favorite season. As much as I love the first one, this was when things were really funny, intense, dramatic and involving. The season doesn't let us down when it comes to Tony having more problems than ever before. Both in his Mafia Family and his immediate family, Tony can never get a break. His wife gives him grief while his kids keep doing things that upset him. And don't get me started on his ill mother and self-centered sister. Life isn't much better in his Mafia Family when the brother of Jackie is released from...

The Best Drama on Television Gets Even Better!
I originally rented the first season of the Sopranos on DVD and ended up watching all thirteen episodes over a two day period. I went out and bought the second season as a Christmas present for myself and I am pleased to say it surpassed even my lofty expectations!

The season starts out where the last one left off. Tony's not talking to his mother, Uncle Junior's been arrested and is let out on house arrest, Big Pussy's is now an FBI informant, and Dr. Melfi's seeing patients in a motel. But things get turned upsided down with the addition of two new characters: Tony's sister Janice (aka Parvati) and Richie Aprile, the brother of the late former boss Jackie Aprile and Janice's former lover. He's just been released from prison and is looking for a piece of the action, both from Tony and from Janice.

I'm not going to spoil the season for you by running down every episode, but every episode, while self-contained, helps paint a piece of the larger picture of the season...

Watch out. It's addictive.
In some viewer's eyes, season two of HBO's The Sopranos suffered in comparison to the sensational first season. The initial buzz of such a high calibre television show had worn off to a degree. What helps make season two so special is how those qualities that made season one such a hit were (and are) intact.

O.K., the overall feel of the sophomore season isn't as lighthearted as the first--should it be? There is much that Sopranos creator David Chase has to say about life in general. And you may find that you have more in common with the mobbed-up characters than you think. It's an interesting, edgy, wicked, funny and frightening ride that hasn't lost it's intelligent touch. The production of The Sopranos in subsequent seasons has grown (along with the size of its viewership), and the writing has been progressively more mature, dark and realistic. Yet, it's still fun to watch, even with the darker plotlines.

I've always been a big Scooby Doo fan ever since the show first premiered in 1969 when I was just 6 years old. In 1972, "Scooby Doo, Where are You?" became "The New Scooby Doo Movies". The show was now an hour long instead of 30 minutes and each episode had the gang meet a new guest star each week. This format lasted from 1972 through 1973 and featured 24 total episodes along with a Halloween special. Unfortunately, instead of giving us ALL 25 episodes, Warner Home Video has chosen to give us a "best of" collection of 15 episodes. Why not do all of them is a mystery for Scooby and the gang but I guess beggars cannot be choosers.

"Ghastly Ghost Town" guest stars the Three Stooges. The gang is forced to seek help on foot in the desert after their van is forced onto a sand dune by a low-flying, king-sized bat. They come across Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly-Joe DeRita, whose amusement park is really the one in need of help.

The missing 1 hour episodes
It's great they released these 1 hour scooby episodes that followed the 2 season run of scooby doo where are you?. Its just a shame they didn't continue the original 1/2 hour shows as well. The one hour "movies" were filled with a lot of filler chase scenes and seemingly senseless time fillers to stretch them to 1 hour. Many show the same scenes over and over again. I still enjoyed them when I was a kid and will order this set for my 2 year old son. I still find the original series more entertaining than the movies episodes.
